October, 2017 Calendar

The highlight of October is the celebration of Reformation Sunday on October 29th. Since Hurricane Irma disrupted Rally Day in September, we will celebrate a combined Rally Day/Halloween Fest on Reformation Sunday, October 29th after worship. All children are welcome and invited to wear their favorite costume to enjoy the food, fun, and games! Pastor Doug teaches a New Member Class at 10:40 a.m. on Sundays in the Choir Room for those wishing to make Shepherd of the Glades their church home. Those joining SOTG will be welcomed into fellowship also on Sunday, October 29th. To view the calendar for the month of October, 2017, please click here: October, 2017 Calendar

Hurricane Irma Update

Due to all the warnings and the impending arrival of Hurricane Irma, Shepherd of the Glades Lutheran Church will be closed from Friday at noon until Tuesday, September 12th. Therefore, there will be no church service this Sunday. Please stay safe and Godspeed! Below is a message from Pastor Doug:
“Greetings in the name of Jesus, whose peace surpasses all human understanding! As Hurricane Irma approaches, please heed warnings and prepare as best you can, even if it means evacuation. Remember Matthew 8:23-27: ‘And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. A wind storm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We are perishing!’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, you of little faith?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying, ‘What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?’
Yes, we have faith, and, yes, we may be afraid, but we are ‘amazed’because of Romans 8:38-39: ‘For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Even a powerful hurricane called Irma!
