Pastor Jeff Ungs graduated in 1995 from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, with a Bachelor’s in Arts degree, majoring in Psychology. He then graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1999 with a Masters in Divinity.
Pastor Ungs was joined in marriage to his wife, Kelli, in 1991, and they have remained happily married. They have been blessed with five children and one Granddaughter. Pastor Jeff has served congregations in Eureka, Kansas; Clear Lake, Iowa; Dakota City, Nebraska; and most recently served as the assistant to the Bishop and Director for Evangelical Mission in the Western Iowa Synod.
As the Director for Evangelical Mission, Pastor Ungs gained valuable experience in the areas of evangelism and congregation vitality. These experiences led to the development of a network of congregations working together in concert to find new life in their communities and congregations. Pastor Jeff is a very Spirit filled leader with passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and compassion for all people.
Pastor’s hobbies include participating in Scouting BSA, riding bicycle, and swinging golf clubs. (Note: This is much more accurate than saying he plays golf!) His family is very important to Pastor Ungs. All four of his sons have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His daughter, Alisha, will graduate from Wartburg Theological Seminary in May of 2023 with a Masters of Divinity degree and is on track for ordination.
Pastor Ungs claims to be a very simple theologian. Living the Gospel is all about relationships. Loving God with all your heart, soul, and might and loving your neighbor as your self, as well as making disciples and baptizing in the name of the triune God is at the core of all his teaching and preaching.
